Ford Fiesta ST Set To Launch

by The Boob Man on April 7, 2011

Just like its big brother the Ford Focus, Ford’s B-segment Fiesta will also feature a sportier ST version in the years to come. As far we have gathered from spy shots, it sure looks like a tuned up Fiesta out testing, fitted with larger wheels, a performance exhaust, and a front-mount intercooler.

Autocar’s latest reports say that poised for an end 2012 launch, the Fiesta ST will be powered by Ford’s 1.6-liter EcoBoost inline-four, while the horsepower is estimated to be somewhere around 180. It is likely that the front-drive hatch will transmit power to the wheels with the help of a six-speed manual transmission. We feel the Fiesta ST will take its competitors like the Mini Cooper S head on in the small car segment, thanks to features like superior brakes, revised suspension geometry, and lots of interior upgrades on the cards.

Official confirmation has been received from the manufacturer that the Focus ST will be available for sale here in the United States, but whether the same applies to the Fiesta ST or not has still not been declared. What we can do now is hope that it does.
